Marco Pierre White’s Summer Party at The Pear Tree, Whitley raises over £1000 for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
On Saturday, 8th June Marco Pierre White and his new team, headed up by General Manager Michelle Dhalaigh, hosted an afternoon party at his picture-perfect pub The Pear Tree in Whitley, in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
From 2 pm until 4 pm guests were treated to delicious canapés, cream teas and the signature cocktail pear bellinis and Marco signed books to raise money for this worthy cause and shared a rare moment of sunshine with his guests in the garden.
Special guest Major Kate Philp, an Ambassador for The Soldiers’ Charity and the first female soldier to lose a limb in Afghanistan, gave a short but empowering speech regarding her journey and imparted some of the many ways The Soldiers’ charity benefits families today. Kate then enlisted the help of local MP Duncan Hames to draw the raffle. Every so often we can enjoy an idyllic day and Saturday, at Marco Pierre White’s pub restaurant, the Pear Tree Inn at Whitley, Melksham, was the perfect setting for a great ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity fundraising event.
Marco had kindly opened his kitchen and garden to provide delightful canapés and to be on hand to sign copies of his latest book Marco made easy, with proceeds going to the Charity.
Major Kate Philp told the story of her injury and rehabilitation, and her latest expedition as she prepares to walk to the South Pole with Walking with the Wounded in a team including Prince Harry.
Marco kindly donated some fantastic raffle prizes and spent time with guests in the garden. It was so wonderful to see people chatting, eating, drinking and enjoying themselves whilst raising money, and the Pear Tree Inn is certainly a place to enjoy.
Marco Pierre White was the first, and youngest ever, British chef to attain three Michelin stars. Today he is still without doubt one of England’s culinary giants with a remarkable career and an enviable portfolio of restaurants in the UK and overseas including Dublin and Dubai. He has earned worldwide respect and recognition for his passion and commitment and ongoing contribution to the industry.
The Pear Tree Inn is one of Marco’s favourite pubs in England. It is one of seven Wheelers Inns that have been launched over the last three years.
