Show your support – The 2012 Early Early Christmas Fair in support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity

The 2012 Early Early Christmas Fair, in support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, will be held in the grounds of Tedworth House again this year. For those of you who have not been before, this is a unique shopping experience where you can have lunch, meet friends and then leave happily laden with bags of truly fabulous gifts and treats. Once again we have more than 90 stalls, of which 48 are completely new this year. A lot of time is spent researching and sourcing them to find things that are not normally available on the high street. The Early […]

Seasonal spirit goes a long way to aid soldiers

Organisers tell how the Early Early Christmas Fair helps the soldiers who risk so much but ask so little. THE ANNUAL Early Early Christmas Fair, in aid of ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity, takes place, as always, in the grounds of Tedworth House in Tidworth on Wednesday, September 28. But at one stage it looked as if it would not. Tedworth House has undergone a major transformation since transferring from army stewardship to Help for Heroes, to enable it to become a flagship rehabilitation centre for wounded soldiers. A year in the life of a festive fair organiser

Caroline Cary inspires with her passion for the Early Early Christmas Fair as she let’s us in on her year. THE EDITOR has invited me to share with Wiltshire Life readers a diary of the Early Early Christmas Fair (EECF), held in September, and to explain how it unfolds over the course of a year. Sitting amid nine years of files, I realise how much work has gone into this event, not only during the time I have been involved with it, but also in the years prior to my taking over the responsibility. The Early Early Christmas Fair has […]

Soldiers’ festive gift

THE EARLY Early Christmas Fair at Tedworth House in Tidworth in September raised a festive gift of £35,000 for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. Shoppers browsed stalls selling everything from cashmere to Christmas pudding, many attending the preview on Tuesday evening to get first dibs, before the fair on Wednesday. Special guest was Captain Dave Henson of the Royal Engineers, who lost both legs when he triggered a booby trap, detonating an IED in Afghanistan in 2012. The charity was able to help Dave and his fiancé out in a heartwarming story that saw the couple use the fair’s marquee for […]

Foodie first for Barbury

Barbury is too good to miss covering eventing, rural life – and now food. BARBURY INTERNATIONAL Horse Trials, from June 28 to July 1, holds an extra frisson of excitement this year as it is the venue for the British Eventing Team’s last run out before the Olympics. No tickets for London 2012? Barbury is the place to head for. Held in a natural amphitheatre in the landscape, this is one of the best views you will ever get of a crosscountry course, bringing the adrenalin fuelled muscular manoeuvres that bit closer. Running alongside the horse trials over the weekend, […]
